Protectors of Animals, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit. Donating to our clinic gives us the opportunity to spay/neuter more animals - strays, feral cats and pets of financially challenged owners who need assistance with these services.

​Cat Services & Fees

Effective October 1, 2017 - A $25 deposit will be required to book appointments for friendly cats and kittens. This deposit will be applied to the total due on the day of your appointment, it will be refunded with 48 hours advanced notice of cancellation.

Your cat must be 3lbs/12 weeks of age to be spayed/neutered. Your cat will receive a brief physical exam prior to surgery. Our veterinarian reserves the right to refuse services if your pet shows signs of illness or injury. There is no extra charge for pregnant or in heat cats. All pets 12 weeks and older receiving services at our clinic must be accompanied by a current rabies certificate at the time of surgery admission or a rabies vaccination will be given, at no extra charge. A rabies tag and hospital invoices are not acceptable proof of rabies vaccination. Appointments are required and payment is due at the time of admission. We accept cash, credit card and debit cards. ALL CATS MUST BE IN A HARD-SIDED, SECURE CAT CARRIER. PLEASE MAKE SURE ALL LATCHES AND PARTS OF THE CARRIER ARE IN PLACE AND CANNOT BREAK OPEN TO ENSURE YOUR CAT'S SAFETY. CATS NOT IN A HARD CARRIER WILL BE DECLINED. PLEASE CALL US IF YOU NEED TO BORROW A CARRIER. 


Tame Cat Spay/Neuter Package - $85

Includes:

  • Brief Pre-Surgical Exam
  • Pain Medication Administered at the Clinic

  • Feline Distemper Vaccine
  • Advantage Multi Application
  • Nail Trim

​​Feral Cat Spay/Neuter Package - $65
The feral cat package is not for friendly/tame cats or companion pet cats. If a cat is deemed to be friendly, the fee will be adjusted accordingly. ALL FERAL CATS MUST ARRIVE IN A HUMANE TRAP COVERED WITH A SHEET OR TOWEL. POA SPAY! has humane traps for loan ($25 refundable deposit required).

  • Ear Tip (Required for all Cats in Traps)​

​The State of Connecticut Animal Population Control Feral Cat Vouchers are accepted for full price for the Feral Cat Package.

Discount Programs for Cats

  • Low Income Voucher ProgramThe state of Connecticut's Animal Population Control Program is NOT currently accepting new applications for their low-income pet sterilization program. Please check back with them at the end of June 2017 by clicking here or by calling (860) 713-2507. We will accept any vouchers that have been issued as long as they have not expired.
  • SPAY Connecticut Subsidy Program  - The SPAY Connecticut Program discounts the cost of cat spay/neuter packages to $50 for qualifying cat owners with financial need. Please call to seee if you meet the qualifications.
